Cool

Sounds awesome. Reminds me of how much I love Nobuo. It's hard to fuck up when covering something so amazing to begin with XD

Rhythm guitars definitely can sound as good as the real thing, as shown here. However, I've yet to hear lead guitars sound very human or dynamic (it's a good thing you didn't use them here). That's my only beef with them.

HEAVY ASS ATMOSPHERE

This one is like atmosphere to the max man. Overall it feels a bit static and as if it could have gone more places, perhaps some moving chord progressions or something. They modulations are nice though.

This is like some spy music man. Like it seriously sounds professional. The synths you use are seriously badass.

Dude you love Dorian mode! =)

That major sixth in the ambience is really pleasing. And I love this hits at 3:26! I think there are some weird note choices after those hits, like when you kind of vary the notes. I guess it somewhat bothers my ears, but I still love the track. Epicness.

Cream in my jeans

I don't even have the words to describe the immense joy I receive from listening to that main melodic line. That is like what you call very advanced atmosphere haha. And that 5/4 intro riff playing over the 4/4 song is so freakin' clever man, I love it.

Heavy imagery in this one

I think my favorite part of the song is that totally eargasmic melodic riff at about 0:20 seconds. Sounds quite diminished or something, very fitting for the mood. Also the steady and pulsating burst of rhythms that is first heard at 0:04 is a nice touch. I appreciate you sharing this creation. Very unique.

Very interesting atmosphere to this song

I think any Zelda fan would appreciate the emotional response from listening to this song. I love that the form of the song is sort of free in its structure (in a more literal sense), and yet the song is structured in an emotional sense. Very cool that you did that. Zelda 4 Lyf3!!!

I loved your Trance back in the day

I feel like my favorite music of yours was back when you were kind of in this kind of transitional stage between VG trance and Classical. I think your latest Classical pieces are good, but I personally just felt like there was some extreme level of unmatched genuineness when there was that bit of trance involved in your music. I'm not sure how to describe it really. I mean as musicians/artists we all progress and evolve and change and I can dig that, and I certainly have a lot of respect for all the work you've done. I'm certain you will continue to improve and keep making great music, but I just thought I'd share how I felt about your past/current music. Long live David Orr =)

DavidOrr responds:

Thank you! I do miss these old days without a doubt. Some times I'll come back and look through my old music and feel like my music now is missing the rawness like in this piece. Some of that is just poor mixing in my old music (this track is clipping like nobody's business!!!), but I'd like to come back and visit this old side. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.

Thank you for your review!

Dimrain, you never disappoint...

The intro is absolutely amazing. Especially with that ascending run at 0:21 seconds, that make me die every time haha. You truly are a musical genius, and with this song have inspired me to start writing techno again. I hope one day I can compose something as eargasmic as this. Please never stop Dimrain--you rock so hard.

Another great showing of talent...

Your songs all definitely have an "Orr" feeling to them. I'm not sure what it is, but there's something that makes all of your songs unique. I think I hear that Augmented 5th a lot in your songs (1:35 in this song).

Anyway, is that S.Choirs you're using (the background voices)? Have you experimented with WordBuilder yet?

Keep up the great work.

DavidOrr responds:

I love the augmented 5th, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what you hear in each of my pieces.

That is Symphonic Choirs in there. Wonderful program. To use (most of) the choirs, you have to use WordBuilder, I've done quite a bit of experimenting with WordBuilder. It's still has that "beta testing" feel to it, but it does what it need to quite well.

Thanks for the review!

Sensational

I am getting goosebumps as I listen to this. And I agree with Unborn-reason that the choirs add a lot to this. Your orchestral skills are obviously apparent though, and are the shining point of this piece.

If I were to suggest one thing, I'd say add a couple more bridges in the song that vary the energy levels in this song. For the most part, it feels like there is one energy level pushed on throughout the song. If you know what I mean, adding a couple more areas in the song that lack energy will make listeners appreciate the energy of the chorus/main parts even more.

And also maybe add a couple of bridges that are even louder/explosive with bigger and more instruments playing with percussion pounding and crashing.

It's hard to critique since it was already well done, but I just like to give some advice to everyone.

MaestroRage responds:

You're right, bridges would have been helpful, but this piece was designed to be short, it's not even supposed to be THIS long! Oh well, this was as small as I could make it! Perhaps i'll come back to this piece one day and implement the ideas I had for it back then.

Thank you for the critique and review F1uk3, i'm glad you found the piece enjoyable ^^.
