I loved your Trance back in the day

I feel like my favorite music of yours was back when you were kind of in this kind of transitional stage between VG trance and Classical. I think your latest Classical pieces are good, but I personally just felt like there was some extreme level of unmatched genuineness when there was that bit of trance involved in your music. I'm not sure how to describe it really. I mean as musicians/artists we all progress and evolve and change and I can dig that, and I certainly have a lot of respect for all the work you've done. I'm certain you will continue to improve and keep making great music, but I just thought I'd share how I felt about your past/current music. Long live David Orr =)

DavidOrr responds:

Thank you! I do miss these old days without a doubt. Some times I'll come back and look through my old music and feel like my music now is missing the rawness like in this piece. Some of that is just poor mixing in my old music (this track is clipping like nobody's business!!!), but I'd like to come back and visit this old side. Hopefully sooner, rather than later.

Thank you for your review!

Another great showing of talent...

Your songs all definitely have an "Orr" feeling to them. I'm not sure what it is, but there's something that makes all of your songs unique. I think I hear that Augmented 5th a lot in your songs (1:35 in this song).

Anyway, is that S.Choirs you're using (the background voices)? Have you experimented with WordBuilder yet?

Keep up the great work.

DavidOrr responds:

I love the augmented 5th, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what you hear in each of my pieces.

That is Symphonic Choirs in there. Wonderful program. To use (most of) the choirs, you have to use WordBuilder, I've done quite a bit of experimenting with WordBuilder. It's still has that "beta testing" feel to it, but it does what it need to quite well.

Thanks for the review!

Sensational

I am getting goosebumps as I listen to this. And I agree with Unborn-reason that the choirs add a lot to this. Your orchestral skills are obviously apparent though, and are the shining point of this piece.

If I were to suggest one thing, I'd say add a couple more bridges in the song that vary the energy levels in this song. For the most part, it feels like there is one energy level pushed on throughout the song. If you know what I mean, adding a couple more areas in the song that lack energy will make listeners appreciate the energy of the chorus/main parts even more.

And also maybe add a couple of bridges that are even louder/explosive with bigger and more instruments playing with percussion pounding and crashing.

It's hard to critique since it was already well done, but I just like to give some advice to everyone.

MaestroRage responds:

You're right, bridges would have been helpful, but this piece was designed to be short, it's not even supposed to be THIS long! Oh well, this was as small as I could make it! Perhaps i'll come back to this piece one day and implement the ideas I had for it back then.

Thank you for the critique and review F1uk3, i'm glad you found the piece enjoyable ^^.

Hey I like it bro

I would've said that this song gets a bit repetitive and you should try to add in some new/dual melodies/beats, but then I realized that you meant this to be ambient music.

The first thing that I noticed though was that fuzzy synth that just immediately dropped out in the beginning. If you faded it out gradually, I think it would make the intro a lot better.

Anyway, keep on with the music my friend. Keep your chin up. =)

Thank you for the review^_^

hm...

I don't get it. Did you deliberately try to have the guitar offbeat from the rest of the instruments? It just kind of annoyed me. I didn't particularly like it much, but rock on man.

darkkloud responds:

allthough i do see were parts are offbeat, alot i dont see, but ill listen more to hear some off beat ness

Haha nice man

Woo-wuet.

blackmantis1 responds:

Another hardcore very elaborated review.. haha thanks man rock the fuck on

Brilliant

Orr, you freakin' rock. I can't believe I've never heard of you before. You're definitely very underrated as a NG musician. Anyway, it sounds like you could probably make music for movies. You're amazing. Lots of inspiration too.

DavidOrr responds:

Glad you enjoyed my music! It's great to hear that it sounds like I could make music for movies, because that's where I plan on headding.

Thanks for the review!

I like your ideas, but...

...your songs all seem to be building up to some main melody/synth. Especially this one. It just feels like it's building, building... and never gets to that awesome main melody later on. Dunno if you understand what I'm saying.

But anyway, keep up the good work.

chromic responds:

ya, I know what you mean. I always feel that way when I'm making them, and that's why they end up being so long (Silver Sky). I'm gonna make a full version of this song eventually, but it won't be available in the ap.

I give you a 5/5

I do think you're a bit underrated as far as how popular you are here. Honestly though, I haven't heard a lot of your songs yet, but the drum patterns are pretty sweet here man. Put out more with some sweet drums.

Keep up the awesome work fellow Techno brotha!

Rawrthaas responds:

Thanks ya, man
